Synento vs Agora
Agora runs a global real-time network with an extensions marketplace, built for demanding live workloads up to broadcast scale. Synento is a much narrower tool for teams whose product is recorded sessions rather than live reach.
| Aspect | Synento | Agora |
|---|---|---|
| Latency model | Relayed over WebSocket from a single region: higher latency, one region to reason about | Global software-defined network with WebRTC-compatible clients, tuned for difficult networks |
| Recording model | Built in: the live session is the recording, kept up to 30 days on Free and 90 on Pro, replayable immediately | Cloud recording as an add-on with its own metering, on top of call minutes |
| Scale shape | Meeting-sized calls: sized for sessions people later replay | From calls to interactive streaming with audience and co-host roles at very large scale |
| Extensions | None: camera, mic and screen, composed at replay or export | A marketplace: noise suppression, effects, spatial audio and more |
| Browser support | Chrome/Edge 94+, Safari 16.4+ (iOS with caveats), Firefox 133+; checked by the SDK before joining | Any browser with WebRTC, plus native mobile SDKs |
| Pricing shape | Participant-minutes and storage, plus replay and MP4 exports past the allowance; no separate recording rate | Per-participant minutes in quality tiers, with recording metered separately |
| Agent / MCP | Remote MCP server provisions and verifies via the session manifest | SDKs, APIs and dashboard; verification is watching the call or fetching the recording |
Choose Synento when…
- Replay and review are the product, and you want them with no add-on to enable.
- You want two meters to predict instead of tiered minutes plus recording rates.
- You would rather run no media infrastructure thinking at all.
Choose Agora when…
- Your audience is global, on difficult networks, or at broadcast scale.
- You need extensions like noise suppression, effects or spatial audio.
- The lowest possible latency across continents is a hard requirement.

How verification works
With Synento an agent does not have to trust its own integration. It reads the session manifest back: every track with a non-null start_ts carried real media, per participant, for camera, microphone and screen.
Common questions
How does recording differ?
Synento records every session by construction with no separate rate. Agora's cloud recording is an add-on product with its own metering on top of call minutes.
What about very large audiences?
Choose Agora. Synento sizes calls for meetings people later replay; Agora's interactive streaming serves audiences orders of magnitude larger.
Our users are on poor networks worldwide. Does that change the answer?
Yes, toward Agora: a global real-time network with per-client adaptation is built for exactly that. A single-region relay is the wrong tool for hostile networks.
